I'm a tenure-track instructor of philosophy at Orange Coast College, where I teach introductory courses to philosophy, critical reasoning, epistemology and history of philosophy.

In the spring of 2023, I earned my PhD from the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science at UC Irvine.  My research is in the philosophy of cognitive science, with special attention to moral cognition.  My work is driven by my belief that we should use science to help us make better moral decisions (i.e., decisions that strengthen our moral agency).

Before attending UC Irvine, I taught philosophy courses on the Big Island of Hawai'i as a tenure-track instructor at Hawai'i Community College and a lecturer at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo.

I earned my BA in Philosophy and Political Science from UCLA in 2005 and my MA in Philosophy from Cal State Los Angeles in 2009.

I was recently named one of UCI's Shining Stars (link) and featured in UCI's School of Social Sciences magazine, Be Bold (link).
